Laser Cutter course (soft materials)

This course is required in order to use the laser cutter at DevLabs. After completing the course, you will be able to operate the laser cutter with the necessary safety pointers and procedures for cutting most non-metallic materials. Remember to have a finished design file ready prior to the course. 

The course has an expected duration of 2 - 3 hrs. During this time, you will: 
  • Learn what is a Laser Cutter.
  • Learn how to design for a laser cutter
  • Understand how to operate it.
  • Be introduced to the necessary safety guidelines and correct handling.
What is expected of you when you show up for the course:
  • You bring your laptop (good idea to bring a mouse)
  • You have downloaded all the necessary software to design and cut your business card 
    • RDWorks V8 - Click here to download
      (if you run on Linux or macOS, download Lightburn and run a trial period)
    • Inkscape, or any other design software that can export DXF R14
  • You have designed a personalized small credit card-sized business card (54 * 85 mm) ready at the beginning of the course.
  • You are expected to participate in the whole course from start to finish.
Please be at the location (Ø19-611-00 / Dreamlab) at least 5 minutes before the starting time. 

Be aware that the course has only 5 available spots, that you need access to Dreamlab yourself, and that this course does NOT permit you to cut metal.
